David Grabarkewitz is a highly accomplished director, educator, and writer renowned for his exceptional contributions to the world of performing arts. With degrees from The University of Hartford's Hartt Conservatory of Music and The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, his expertise and passion shine through in every production. Recognized by The New York Times as the director of the best staging of la Boheme in New York and acclaimed by New York magazine for his inspired direction, Grabarkewitz has left an indelible mark on the industry. His illustrious career includes serving as resident director for The New York City Opera at Lincoln Center from 1995 to 2010, as well as holding the esteemed position of Artistic and General Director of El Paso Opera from 2009 to 2015. Throughout his career, Grabarkewitz has directed world premieres of numerous musicals and operas, displaying his unmatched creative vision. As an educator, he has imparted his knowledge in acting and directing in ensemble style to aspiring artists, leaving a lasting impact on the next generation.
